Make up short pieces with me using bursts of rhythm or bits of tunes

Help me take my first steps to making up my own music – it’s easier than it sounds

Don’t be afraid to ask a trained musician to help you get going
Start by taking it in turns to make short rhythms
Use percussion instruments, everyday sound-makers or specialist technology if needed
Now try the same with our voices
And then, melody instruments
Sometimes, let’s copy what each other does
Other times, let’s make new phrases up that seem to fit with the old
Soon, we’ll be starting to making up whole new songs together
Can you make up some words to fit with our tune?
Make recordings of what we come up with,and give the songs names, so we can call them up in the future when we want to listen to them
