Interpret my efforts at sound-making as an expression of how feel
Soundabout Life: Level 2 | Card: 6 | Category: Proactive
Respond to the emotions I convey through sound; show you understand

- Exaggerate your responses to any vocal sounds that I may make that show how I am feeling
- React if I make sounds with everyday objects or instruments that seem to show that I am frustrated, excited, angry, happy or sad
- Try to identify triggers that may make me express particular feelings through sound
- Try using the triggers, sensitively, to elicit responses in sound from me
- Is it possible to soothe any negative emotions that I express with a reassuring word or a touch on shoulder, and so change the nature of the sounds that I make?
- It’s important to remember that opting not tomake a sound may also show how I am feeling
- Keep a note of the sounds I make and the feelings associated with them, and share with other carers
