Use a range of different ‘call and response’ songs from different cultures

Try using songs from Soundabout Music Tracks: Motifs resource
Try spirituals, which often use a call and response format: for example, ‘Train’s-a-coming’ and ‘Standing in the need of prayer’
Try sea shanties like ‘Haul away Joe’ and ‘Boney was a warrior’
Try pop songs such as ‘My Sweet Lord’
At first, you could try modelling the imitation between family and friend, with one, perhaps, taking the lead and two or three others responding
In time, I may be able to take the lead myself, which I may find very motivating
Encourage me to sustain our interactions for longer, and start to give them an overall shape
Make recordings of our call and response sessions
